10 Must Follow Zanzibar Influencers on Social Media #ZanziChat

To think of travel is to seek inspiration through imagery. The richer the imagery, the more inspired seem to be.

The name Zanzibar evokes images of something exotic and seductive. Like many island nations, Zanzibar does not disappoint and satisfies the imagination for powder-soft white sandy beaches and azure-blue waters, spectacular coastline, heady spices, fresh food, cultural and geographic diversity and fun people.

However, unlike equally beautiful islands such as the Maldives, Zanzibar comes with the added bonus of being characteristically African; bringing with it the unique mix of simplicity and complexity that is a delight to photographers and videographers. We feel that these influencers have truly captured the spirit of Zanzibar through their dreamy photography and videography.

While planning our trip, we stumbled on his drone video titled ‘Zanzibar From Above’ thanks to AFK Travel and must have watched it multiple times. Video journalist Mathias used a DJI Phantom 3 Pro, GoPro Hero 3+ and Canon 5DMKIII to perfectly capture a literal ‘birds-eye’ view of Zanzibar’s contradictions: her beauty and her burden.

#3: The Free Spirit: Haifa Beseisso

10 Must Follow Zanzibar Influencers on Social MediaWhy did we choose her? Our trip to Zanzibar included a stopover in Dubai. While looking for influential bloggers from the UAE we came across Haifa, a playful, adventurous and daring under-30s Muslim entrepreneur. Haifa’s slick Zanzibar highlights video challenged us to immerse ourselves into the local culture for a richer experience of Zanzibar.
