#7: Food and dining aboard

You will not go hungry on a cruise ship! On-board the Oceana, we were spoiled for choice with options ranging from buffet style breakfasts at The Plaza to more lavish dining at Café Jardin, with its signature menu by Michelin-starred chef Marco Pierre White.

At the ship’s Ligurian Restaurant where we were seated with random strangers around the same table providing for a rather intimate social dining experiment. Usually, the initial awkwardness gave way to an evening of laughter. We were however grateful for more private dining options such as The Beach House.

With cruise travel, you can expect to be placed on a meal plan which provides you all meals throughout the day. However, drinks are typically charged separately as well as a cover charge and tips (confirm this with your provider before you book).

HDYTI Tip: For travellers with dietary requirements, be sure to register any allergies or restrictions as soon as you book your trip. This allows the ship’s crew to make suitable provisions for your trip.
