‘Disclaimer’

We are not the ‘coolest’ people you’ll ever meet. I can easily think of several people who wear that label easily e.g., Michelle Obama, my father-in-law and even Wolverine from the X-Men. So with this self-effacing introduction, who are we and why should you read our blog?

We’re your everyday kind of couple

Think Clark Kent and Lois Lane in a Bruno Mars ‘Lazy Song’ kind of way…although unlike the song suggests, we like to do a bit more than walking around in pajamas all day.

My day job involves managing IT risk for my clients while Eulanda is a professional photographer, dancer, choreographer and graphic designer with enough creative energy for both of us.

I grew up in Surulere, Lagos while Eulanda grew up in Denver, Colorado. Although we grew up continents and cultures apart, we were destined to meet in London. Our shared Christian faith helps us appreciate the beauty of creation and the fact that we’re alive to enjoy it. The simple things in life make us happy.

When we started dating…

We immediately discovered that we had many shared interests. That’s the whole point of dating right? We both love food; my tastes are influenced by exotic Nigerian / West African flavours and hers by ‘soul food’ from the American South. Compared to the typical Nigerian ‘alpha-male’, I enjoy spending time in the kitchen. Meanwhile Eulanda comes from a multi-award winning family of top caterers and chefs.

We both enjoy travelling and feel very blessed that we have the opportunity to do so. Our ancestors may have been the sort of people who rather than settle for a tree house, must have preferred jumping into a canoe and sailing away to distant lands with little more than a hieroglyphic for a map.

Finally, we both love life – from music and dance to technology and art and everything in-between (and of course the people who create them).

Somehow…

Our life paths found us living in London; a city famous for being one of the greatest melting pots for civilizations and cultures and a crucible of rich diversity. Everywhere you look, there’s a virtual signpost reaching into your soul and inviting you to try a new experience.

London is like the epicenter of a spider’s web, offering modern day Silk Roads across Europe and the rest of the world. For us, the privilege of living and working in this city has given us license to explore our interests without inhibition. We’re not content to stand on the sidelines and let experiences pass us by.

For us…

Dipping our toes‘ into this rich sea of life means that we’re always open to new experiences. This includes trying new cuisines and learning from other cultures. We give each other the courage to step outside boundaries within and boundaries external and to create our own unique experiences.

We enjoy discovering the stories behind the stories of the people we meet and the places we visit. We believe identity is not static, and that with every new adventure and experience, we add more to the fabric of our own identity. Our desire is that through this blog, others will be emboldened to enrich the tapestry of their lives.

.

In a nutshell

That’s who we are. We love meeting new people and so if our paths happen to cross somewhere along life’s many twists and turns, we hope we can share our stories with you and inspire each other to dip our toes in!
