What was #FFEU16?

Hey! Dip Your Toes In (HDYTI), winners of the Best Food & Drink Blog (individual category) and Highly Commended Travel blog (individual category) at the 2016 UK Blog Awards, launched a digital media campaign (between 13 June and 31 July 2016) to explore and celebrate London’s rich food and cultural diversity.

We titled this campaign: FOOD, FOOTBALL and the EU – a foodie adventure through London’s European cuisines, culture and communities. The idea was in part inspired by the recently concluded UEFA EURO 2016 football tournament.

Over a six week period, we enlisted the help of other London based food bloggers and ambitiously set out to visit 24 restaurants and food establishments in and around London which represent the 24 nations that took part in the competition (see the full list of countries below). We wanted to understand how food diversity creates a shared sense of participation in the London project and fosters integration between London’s communities.

Somewhere along the way, BREXIT happened! This made for some very interesting conversations and perspectives.

We used the hashtag #FFEU16 to promote this campaign on social media. During the very enjoyable research phase, we met with chefs, restaurant owners, restaurant managers, bar tenders, waiters, food importers and food enthusiasts collecting insights, images, interviews, life lessons and stories that showcase London as a major epicentre and melting pot of global cultures. We have a goldmine of content which we look forward to sharing with you.

What happens next?

We are now in the very busy phase of curating, writing, editing and developing the content which we will be shared on a variety of platforms and formats. Please do stay connected with us on social media or sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know when #FFEU16 content is published.

Thank you!

We would like to sincerely thank all the participating establishments for giving us a chance to experience their various offerings and making time to speak to us. We could not have done this without the numerous PR, Marketing and Sales teams who facilitated our visits. We also want to thank our followers for engaging with our content throughout the campaign.
