Mulled Wine recipe by HDYTI

Our mulled wine recipe is sure to get you in a festive mood. Visit any grocery store in the UK, and you’ll find the shelves stocked with it during the holiday season. However, the taste of pre-made concoctions is often lackluster. The aroma of homemade mulled wine is divine, and will soon have everyone following their noses to its hot simmering goodness in your kitchen.

Last year, we created a hot “rum” chocolate, and we’re excited to add this mulled wine Christmas classic to the archives.

We’ve made both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of this delicious tipple. So if the kiddos are around, and you don’t want to make a separate version to appease the underage contingency, make the non-alcoholic one, and everyone will get to enjoy in the festive feels it’s sure to bring.

The remix

The other night we decided to finish off a bottle of port we’d picked up in Cyprus. However, instead of drinking it straight, we added it into the batch of mulled wine we had simmering on the hob. It was a lovely addition to our recipe.

It’s important to note that if you feel particularly lazy like saving time, you can buy premade sachets at the grocery store or on Amazon, and replace the spices listed in the ingredients below with two sachets of a brand like Schwartz Mulled Wine Spice.

Mulled Dance Exploits

Funny story…my mom has fallen in love with mulled wine. Last Christmas I went home to visit (Colorado, USA), and brought some mulled wine spice sachets to add to any bottle of red sitting around the house.

It was as if she went through a total transformation in a matter of minutes…

She was skeptical at first, saying “Ummm, I don’t know about that warm wine Eulanda…” Then her nose caught whiff of the wine heating up, and it was as if she went through a total transformation in a matter of minutes. Her eyes lit up like she had reindeer hopping through them. She even did the cutest dance after she went back for a second serving. I shall forever call it the “momma betta’ get her mulled wine” dance!

We hope you’ll give it a try, and share any holiday dance shenanigans with us!
